Hi! I'm Jared.
Aspiring Engineer
& Photographer Hobbyist
I am a curious, driven, and ambitious individual who loves taking engineering designs from infancy to finished product. I thoroughly enjoy hands-on projects and take pride in the prototyping stage.
I have a strong belief that well-selling products are directly correlated to their function + aesthetic, however, the latter is often overlooked by engineers. Second to functionality, beautiful aesthetics is something I strive to accomplish in all my designs and a trait that sets me apart from the typical engineer.
On the other hand;
I recently picked up photography and have absolutely fell in love with the hobby. It provides an outlet for me to express my creativity outside the many bounds that are usually set within the engineering world.

Experience
Through four vastly different internship experiences, I have developed a well-versed skillset that includes mechanical design, embedded systems, biomechanics, and project management. Details of each position are listed below.

Technical Project Manager Intern
Palo Alto, California | January-April 2024
-
Managed the Cybertruck Battery Structures program through product design, quality investigations, and cost-down efforts
-
Led the Cybertruck Off-Road Package program through DFM and early validation testing by developing a program-wide timeline, consolidating costs, sourcing parts, coordinating test builds, and hosting weekly meetings to align with the team.
-
Collaborated with the HVB team to determine maximum cost-down approach for Cybertruck Standard Range; worked through feasibility concerns with the supplier and managed DFM of new part
-
Revised GD&T specs on drawings through tolerance stacks and clearance & creepage investigations to increase manufacturability
Biomechanical Research Intern
Toronto, Ontario | May-August 2023
-
Innovated biomechanical strain measuring processes by replacing strain gauges with DIC to facilitate full-field strain mapping
-
Developed a 2D DIC algorithm in MATLAB that processes images and performs necessary strain calculations, costing < 25% of commercially available options
-
Utilized an Instron Materials Testing machine and strain gauges to record data for development and calibration of the DIC system
-
Composed an SOP detailing the setup of the DIC system and the MATLAB algorithm to facilitate a smooth transition of the project
R&D Engineering Intern
Mississauga, Ontario | September-December 2022
-
Spearheaded the design and automation of two EVTs on sensors and motors to ensure a desired lifespan of 5 years
-
Implemented DFM skills to design effective multicomponent test fixtures, including 3D printed, laser cut, and machined parts
-
Collaborated with teammates to refine testing methods, successfully resulting in EVTs that were up to 35% more efficient
-
Developed Python scripts and built corresponding Raspberry Pi circuits to automate the EVTs and record data
-
Assisted other engineers on the team by prototyping various projects in CAD throughout the term
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Kitchener, Ontario | January-April 2022
-
Assessed 3D models of parts and utilized DFA techniques to effectively design 15+ molds per week in Autodesk Inventor
-
Performed FEA simulations on molds to determine if castings would solidify successfully before proceeding with sand printing
-
Constructed 3D models in Autodesk inventor based on 2D machine drawings to obtain the approximate weight of parts and subsequently deliver quotes to clients
Founder, Product Design Engineer
Toronto, Ontario | April 2021-July 2023
-
Founded a 3D printing-oriented Etsy shop as a means of turning a hobby into a business
-
Achieved a 4.5/5-star rating through 50+ sales due to exceptional product design and customer service
-
Conducted regular maintenance and troubleshooting on a Prusa i3 MK3S, which was used to print all prototypes and products
